Waterfalls & Walks

Ng Tung Chai!

To celebrate the (slightly) cooler weather, 5 of us went on our first hiking adventure to see the magnificent highest natural weaterfalls. What I thought was a 15 minute wander once we got off the bus at the stop, turned in to an hour and a half climb up hill, but it was worth it! Along the way we passed a wonderul temple hidden in the trees and got to see the aptly named bottom and middle falls before we made it to the top, sweating through all of our clothes and in good need of a lie and cool down! The path began being paved and then began to get steeper, turning in to a more dirt like track and steps which wrapped around the hillsides. The scenery was wonderful, and best of all, is was incredibly silent. I think it was the quietest it has been since I arrived no joke. We got off the bus and you could almost hear your ears ringing from the lack of noise, like that sensation you get after you come back from a concert or a club or something. I really did not realise how much noise I am around day in day out just by virtue of the fact there are so many people in such a short amount of time! What I would not give a second thought to at home, the sound of silence!, came as quite a shock here in Hong Kong, yet another featue of the fast and bustling pace of life and yte anothe reason why it is so imporitant to get out of the city when you can!

We were all so sleepy coming back on the mtr, with the most energy deciding where and how we were going to get food when we got back! We made it through americas next top model (our sunday night tv here!) and could think of nothing better than sleeping! We were so lucky we had a three day weekend with the monday off otherwise I would have been useless the entire next day at school if so!
